Considering Severance just became Apple TV+’s most-watched series ever, it’s not shocking that season 3 is officially confirmed now! Yup, you can start preparing your innie to head back to Lumon and get traumatized all over again. Season 2 ended with Mark mid-reintegration and that insane Mark/Helly/Gemma love triangle cliffhanger, so there’s plenty of drama to explore next season.

In a March 21 press release about season 3, executive producer and director Ben Stiller called making Severance “one of the most creatively exciting experiences” he’s ever been part of. Same, and all I did was consume it. The icon joked, “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Here’s everything to know about Severance season 3, including the release date, cast, and plot details.

There’s no release date yet, but there is hopeful news… We don’t have to wait three years this time! “No, the plan is not to [wait three years],” Ben confirmed during a March 19 appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. He added, “Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon.” (The second season was delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and a lot of rewrites.)

The Severance Season 3 Cast

No new cast members have been announced as of now, but surely, we can expect the stars — minus John Turturro, who plays Irving — to return. It seemed like we said goodbye to Irving at the end of season 2, but I suppose he could always make a surprise return. I’m guessing Adam Scott (Mark), Britt Lower (Helly/Helena), Zach Cherry (Dylan), Dichen Lachman (Gemma), Tramell Tillman (Milchick), Patricia Arquette (Cobel), and Sarah Bock (Ms. Huang) will all reprise their roles in the third season.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole Severance team,” Adam said in his season 3 announcement. “Oh, hey also—not a huge deal—but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

Severance Season 3 Plot Details

No season 3 plot details have been teased just yet, obviously, but there are several questions we’re gonna need answers to. For one, WTF is Mark and Helly’s plan now? Also, what’s gonna happen to Gemma, who’s just been rescued but also ditched by the innie version of her husband? Plus, season 2 started exploring Mark’s reintegration journey, but he’s not even close to being fully reintegrated. We’ll have to see how that process plays out.

During a March 2025 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ben explained that the writers already know how the series will end, and they’re working toward that point. “How we’re getting there is the creative process and we have benchmarks,” he explained. “But that to me happens in the process, you want to allow for discovery within that but we definitely know how long it’s going to go too.”
