Apparently, while I was hyper-focused on the “Mamacita” scene, the Nicolandria corner of TikTok, and that historic Huda crashout, other Love Island stans were busy investigating Ace and Chelley’s past. Remember when Ace walked into the villa, locked eyes with Chelley, and hit her with that suspiciously familiar “I know you”? The season 7 star claimed that they met outside of a club in New York once, and Chelley added that they DM’ed for a while after that, but it never turned into anything more since they lived in different states. But were Ace and Chelley telling the whole truth that day? Some online sleuths are convinced they have a lot more history than just meeting outside a club once — there’s even an unhinged theory that Ace and Chelley are secretly married AND have a little kid. (That would make two, mommys/mamacitas in the villa for those of you keeping track.)

So, were Ace and Chelley actually married before Love Island? Did they already welcome a whole child?! If this turns out to be the scam of the century, I’m not sure America would ever recover from such tomfoolery. In a new statement, Chelley’s team finally set the record straight.

On June 19, this statement was posted on Chelley’s socials: “We want to be transparent and clear the air as some of the rumors have gotten far from the truth. Chelley and Ace briefly crossed paths in New York and later connected on social media.”

“They were never in a relationship, never lived together and there are no children or hidden past,” the statement continued. “What’s unfolding now is real, unscripted and could change at any moment. We’re fully supporting Chelley, wherever her heart leads and with whomever she chooses to couple [up] with.” Personally, I would really like her to end up with Cierra because all of these men are light years out of her league. But that’s just me.

Fans on X really thought Ace and Chelley were married with a toddler, and they only went on Love Island to “test their bond” and get a brand deal or podcast. Hey, there have been crazier revelations on reality dating shows, I suppose. (Love Is Blind star Tyler’s wild sperm donor/custody battle scandal feels like just yesterday.)

If you’ve been keeping up this season, you know that Ace and Chelley are currently coupled up after Ace’s disastrous attempt at a couple with Amaya and Chelley’s pretending-to-like-Austin era. (She was always way more into Ace, I’m sorry.) But will the new bombshell, Andreina Santos, distract Ace from his new couple with Chelley? It seems likely, but we’ll have to stay tuned and find out.
