Are Amy Poehler And Will Arnett The Best Divorced Couple Ever?

She's the person he talks to the most, which is "weird" but also kinda sweet?

Move over Alex Cooper, we’ve got a new podcasting queen in our midst. Amy Poehler is taking over the air waves (Internet waves? Podcast lines? I don’t know, I’m not a scientist.) with her new show Good Hang With Amy Poehler. The title of the show doesn’t lie; it’s truly a very good hang. But Amy’s also bringing her stellar yap skills to other big name podcasts, including the one that belongs to her ex.

ICYMI comedy legend Amy Poehler was married to another comedy great, Will Arnett, from 2003 to 2016. They share two sons, 16-year-old Archie and 14-year-old Abel. And apparently, they also share a pretty solid friendship.

Will hosts the podcast SmartLess podcast alongside Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. Amy dropped in on the April 14 episode of the show as a total surprise to Will. “Our youngest saw my schedule on the kitchen table and said, ‘You’re doing SmartLess? Does Dad know?'” she said on the show. “And I said, ‘No, don’t say anything.”

But don’t worry. For many guys, a surprise visit from their ex-wife would probably make them panic. But, Will seemed pretty pumped to see Amy and have her on SmartLess. Plus, he had some really nice things to say about her. Read on for Will Arnett’s quotes about his marriage to Amy Poehler — and their divorce.

What did Will Arnett say about Amy Poehler?

Even though Amy and Will have been split up for nearly a decade, they still consider each other partners in co-parenting their two sons… and in other big life moves, as well. In fact, they’re still so close that Will called it kind of “weird.”

“I’m really, really lucky to have her as a partner in this way,” he said on SmartLess. “There aren’t many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird — you know what I mean? But it’s great. She is somebody that I still run a lot of stuff by.”

Will called it weird, but I genuinely think his dynamic with Amy is really sweet. They obviously still have a strong bond, and they have two kids together, so why shouldn’t they still be close?

“She’s the person I go to, like, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about doing this.’ Whether it’s life or work, I really seek her counsel because it’s important to me — because I trust her,” Will also said about Amy. “She’s awesome.”

Being able to call your ex-wife awesome seems like the level of friendship all divorced couples should strive for. Now when do we get a podcast hosted by Will and Amy together?
