I have a very close parasocial relationship with Zac Efron, so of course I’m aware of every relationship he’s ever had. The man’s had my heart ever since he lip-synced that first gorgeous note of “Start of Something New” in 2006. (It is actually Drew Seeley’s voice in the movie if you’re a fake High School Musical fan and don’t know that.) Shockingly, I’m not the only girl who finds Zac’s baby blues, impressive acting chops, and god-given rizz attractive; he’s had a whole lot of girlfriends over the years. He’s dated costars, actresses who weren’t his costars, and even some women who weren’t actresses at all… pretty crazy. Obviously, I’m his soulmate, but you have to let people make mistakes and come to you when they’re truly ready. (I’m still waiting.)

Yeahhh, Zac and Vanessa weren’t acting in High School Musical — they really were just a couple of sickeningly talented teens in young love. They dated for five years and ruined all of our lives when they had the audacity to break up.

In 2022, Vanessa opened up about their relationship during an appearance on the Awards Chatter podcast. “It was this massive phenomenon and [all] eyes were on me,” she said. “And it’s just a really weird foreign thing to go through. And by being in a relationship, it kind of kept me stabilized and grounded, and I had someone to lean on who was going through it as well.” Alas, long distance got the best of them after HSM.
In 2012, Zac dated my Emily in Paris queen, Lily Collins. Their relationship lasted for about three months, and it wasn’t super serious.

Zac and the Fast and the Furious star enjoyed some classic Ibiza makeout sessions in the summer of 2014, but there was no more spark by that August. “Michelle is going to do her own thing,” a source told Us. Go off, Michelle. “Zac knew this about her when he got with her. He’s very into her though, and perhaps more than she’s into him.” Ope, roasted.
In October 2014, Zac took a break from fellow movie stars and gave super successful businesswoman Sami Miró a chance. She told Elle that being in the spotlight because of her relationship was “definitely different.” Zami lasted a solid year and a half before they called things off April 2016.
I refuse to believe this is a real last name. Especially the real last name of an Olympian. Sigh. Sarah “Bro” and Zac were an on and off couple in 2019, but by early 2020, the romance “just wasn’t working out,” according to an Us Weekly source.

After Sami and Sarah, Zac went a more traditional route and dated a costar. He and Halston became an item in 2014 after starring in Neighbors together. “They were seeing each other a bit during filming of their movie together and ever since he went to rehab, they got a lot closer,” a source told E! News. Apparently, her friends “loved” him. Yeah, no shit… he’s Zac Efron. Zac and Halston split in the summer that year, but reportedly briefly got back together in early 2020.
Oh, to be Vanessa. Zac and Vanessa (who’s a model, obviously) met in June 2020 at the Byron Bay General Store & Café in Australia, where she was working at the time. They had an adorable friends to lovers arc, but broke up in April 2021.
It appears Zac is single at the moment, but don’t get your hopes up… I think I’m next.
