Do I need to hire someone to protect Zac Efron? This king seems to be extremely accident-prone. Of course, there was the famous jaw incident of 2013 — Zac was running around his house in socks and somehow managed to hit his face on a granite fountain, which made him pass out. He also told Men’s Health in 2022 that he’s previously torn his anterior cruciate ligament, thrown his back out, and dislocated his shoulder. Like, it’s kind of amazing the guy is still standing, let alone thriving. This week, the High School Musical star apparently had a swimming accident while he was vacationing in Ibiza, and fans are (once again) worried about him. Fortunately, the actor provided us with an Insta update, and it sounds like he’s doing better.
For the concerned citizens of the Zac standom community, here’s a full breakdown of Zac Efron’s swimming accident and an update on his road to recovery.
Zac was having a grand old time in Ibiza, as A-list celebrities do. He was staying at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club and even got to join Martin Garrix onstage at the DJ’s show there. (Zac really seems like a rave natural in the TikTok clip of him at the show.) The actor also took advantage of the hotel pool, and that’s where he had what his rep calls a “minor swimming incident.” According to TMZ’s sources, two people working at the hotel found Zac and pulled him out of the water. He was then briefly hospitalized for “precautionary measures” and released the following morning. On Saturday, Zac’s rep told People, “He is fine.” We couldn’t get any more detail than that, Zac’s rep?? I’m not gonna lie… having to be pulled out of the pool doesn’t seem that “minor” to me. But alas, that’s all the swimming accident info we have for now.
On Sunday, Zac calmed us all down with an encouraging Insta Story. He posted a photo of himself lying on an exercise ball and lifting some weights in a sunny, serene setting. “Happy and healthy,” he wrote to his nearly 62 million followers, adding, “Thanks for the well wishes.”

Zac is currently on break after the releases of his movies, Iron Claw and A Family Affair, but we can expect to see him next in Three Men and a Baby, a remake of the 1987 comedy of the same name.
