Adele’s songs are the ultimate cry-about-your-breakup songs. Who among us hasn’t had a nice long shower cry set to “Someone Like You” on repeat? But these days, Adele herself probably isn’t feeling those breakup feels so much since she’s happily engaged.

Back in August 2024, Adele announced her engagement in the most Adele way possible. During one of her concerts, a fan tried proposing via handmade sign. Adele read the proposal out loud and held up her ring finger, saying, “I can’t marry you, ’cause I’m already getting married.” Welp, guess the engagement announcement got lost in the mail, thanks for letting us know, Adele.

Adele was previously married to Simon Konecki, but got divorced in 2021. That’s around the time she went public with her relationship with Rich Paul, although they were kinda cagey about their romance for a while. In a New Yorker profile from May 2021, Rich said he was seeing “a major pop star,” but then quickly backtracked and told the reporter to write that he was single. Sketchy behavior from your boyf, no?

But it wasn’t just Rich who was being a little sketch. Adele refused to respond to rumors she was engaged to Rich during a 2022 appearance on The Graham Norton Show. I mean, she was wearing an absolutely gigantic rock on her left hand, so she wasn’t exactly hiding anything. But whatevs, Adele and Rich weren’t ready to make the big announcement until this last summer, so here we are.

Adele is obviously one of the biggest pop stars in the world, so of course she needs to be with someone who can meet her at her level. And I think Rich Paul delivers. He’s got his own impressive resume as one of this biggest sports agents in the industry. His clients at his company Klutch Sports Group include Philadelphia 76ers player Ben Simmons, Los Angeles Lakers player Anthony Davis, and Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green… Oh, and a basketball player you may have heard of: LeBron James. Yeah, so Rich represents one of the biggest names in sports, so I think it’s safe to call him a success.

The 44-year-old has three kids, and Adele gave one of them a shoutout during one of her shows. Rich’s daughter Reonna graduated from college in May 2024, and Adele congratulated her “stepdaughter” on stage. No official word yet on whether or not Adele and Rich are actually married, but it’s very sweet that Adele is so close to Rich’s kids.

Rich originally dreamed of being an athlete himself when he was growing up in Cleveland, Ohio. But instead, he became a powerhouse agent and he actually changed the NCAA forever. He was part of a regulation change that allows agents who don’t hold bachelor’s degrees to still represent clients, so that people from “less prestigious backgrounds” can also work in the industry.
