Move over Joan Grande: There’s a new royal Joan in town! Yes, Joan Vassos has officially been crowned the first-ever Golden Bachelorette, so naturally, I’m squealing and planning grand watch parties with excessive gold decor. Joan was a fan favorite on The Golden Bachelor, but she had to take herself out of the running during the third week when her daughter had a medical emergency. With everything that’s come out about Gerry, I dare say her leaving early was probably for the best. And now, the queen gets to run the show herself and choose from a hunky batch of elders! Happy for her.

At 61 years old, Joan is just barely golden. Am I shocked that the Golden Bachelorette is a decade younger than the golden bachelor was? Haha no. Here’s hoping Joan’s men aren’t all way older than her.
She’s a Maryland girlie. Joan is originally from Rockville, Maryland and currently works in Bethesda, Maryland. Something tells me she might be moving to Hollywood soon though.
Yes! She has four children — Allison, Nicholas, Erica, and Luke — and two grandchildren as well. “My family will always be first,” Joan shared in a confessional interview. “Once you become a mom, you’re always a mom even when your kids are older. Nothing is more important.”
According to her LinkedIn, The new golden bachelorette works in Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at the Landon School in Bethesda. She’s also an interior designer for Metropolitan Interiors, LLC and a special projects consultant for The Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington. Jesus… when does she get her beauty rest? I suspect Joan won’t hold these positions much longer. Next up: being a star.
