Kate Middleton Is Making Her Way Back Into Public Life — And She’s Doing It In A Gorgeous Dior Suit

Kate Middleton is making her grand return to public life. After receiving a cancer diagnosis in March 2024 — and a lot of kinda invasive media speculation about her step back — Princess Catherine is now in remission and easing her way back into normal. Of course, when you’re a British royal, I don’t know if life is ever what I would consider “normal,” not unless you consider living in a literal palace normal. But no matter how you look at it, Kate is getting back to her version of normal.

Most recently, Kate made a splash alongside her hubby, Prince William, when they welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to the U.K. on July 8. She attended the state visit decked out in a gorgeous pink Dior suit, marking the first time she’s worn the designer for a public event. It also seems like Kate may have worn the French designer as a little nod to French culture, which is simply such a classy move.

But it definitely is still a transition period for Kate. “She’s being sensible, listening to what her body is telling her and easing back into public life,” Queen Elizabeth’s former spokeswoman Ailsa Anderson told PEOPLE.

On July 2, Kate visited Colchester Hospital in Essex to spend time in the well-being garden set up for patients. While she was there, she got candid about her own time as a patient and now that she’s in recovery.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she said. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

She went on to describe how there’s a sort of transition period after treatment that people don’t normally discuss.

“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” Kate explained. “And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”

Kate also got real about the difficulties of the “new normal” you face after treatment. “You have to find your new normal and that takes time…and it’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be,” she said. “But the reality is you go through hard times.”
