After binging the first six episodes of Love is Blind season 7 in a day, I was left with several urgent questions. Rather than tirelessly combing through Reddit threads or doom-scrolling on TikTok for answers, I decided to be a real journalist for once and go straight to the sources themselves. Hannah’s clearly given this some thought. “When someone’s chasing a ping pong ball,” she swiftly replied. “When someone’s butt crack is out. A man holding the door.” Hear that, boys? Just slam the door behind you if you’re with Hannah. Marissa, on the other hand, is mostly ick-less. “I don’t get icks,” she admitted. “It’s so embarrassing. I’m trying, but I just am like, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll just excuse this. Oh, that’s just who they are.'” That being said, she did think of one: “I’m trying not to get the ick at the way that they walk, but I think my ick is the way they walk.” Marissa clarified that she’s not a fan of the “waddle.” That’s so fair.

For Taylor, the ick presents itself when guys are dumb as fuck. “[It’s] when I’m on a date and I talk about my job and they try to explain to me what my job is,” the clean energy policy consultant answered. “I work in clean energy, so they’ll be like, ‘Oh, solar is so expensive’ or something. I’m like, ‘Well, let’s talk about it.’ Yeah, that and not asking any questions is probably my biggest icks.” Real.

Ashley recalled a guy saying “Shish” to the bill when he was the one who asked her out. Oy. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, tacky,'” she remembered. “Not saying a girl can’t cover the tab, but I’m just saying don’t say that.” She advised people to not be cheap on a date. “Don’t go if you can’t spend a couple of dollars.” Important words of wisdom!

The general consensus is the girlies don’t like guys who are rude, problematic, or boring. (I believe this is called having standards.) “I just think you want a man that’s kind to everybody,” Hannah said. “You see someone that’s like, mean to someone that’s the janitor at the office, or maybe they’re not nice to the waiter or things like that. I think that’s for me, no.” Retweet. Taylor agrees that a guy being rude to a waiter is a dealbreaker.

According to Ashley, being a “serial cheater” is a red flag… I think “red flag” may be too gentle a term for that particular situation, but that’s just me. And Marissa’s really not into guys who have zero awareness of politics or current events. “My red flags are guys who are just not aware of anything beyond themselves, women’s rights, things that are happening overseas, and politics,” she explained. She also emphasized that if a man says anything “phobic, homophobic, transphobic, anything sexist,” she’s “done” and “out of here.” How did this queen handle dating a Trump supporter in the past? It’s a mystery.

Some people, like Taylor and Ashley (and me), are just perfect. “We don’t have red flags,” Ashley immediately responded. Taylor chimed in, “No, look at us!” Ashley did eventually admit that she can “be a little bit of a know-it-all,” but argued that it’s not really an issue because she’s so aware of it. “I guess I do have a little bit of my way or the highway sometimes,” Ashley confessed. Taylor didn’t budge, declaring, “I don’t have any red flags.” TBH, I don’t even think she’s lying. Imagine being hot, saving the environment, and not having a single cringe moment on this show. It’s not fair.

Hannah and Marissa took a more vulnerable approach to this question. “Which one do you want to hear?” Hannah joked. “I think my personal biggest red flag is that I speak the truth and I call it like it is. But I think sometimes people don’t need to know the truth, and sometimes I think I need to work on my delivery.” She called herself “the brutally honest friend.” Hey, we all need one. Marissa’s red flag? “Probably my daddy issues,” she said, laughing. “I’m not kidding, but I’ve been to therapy, so we’re good. But I would say, yeah, probably just my trauma is a little bit of a red flag.”

Oh, these responses were juicy. Marissa cheekily smiled and said, “Yeah.” If I had to guess, I’d say she’s currently living out her happily ever after with her nonprofit, soft boi king (and apparently talented lover), Ramses. But ya never know! Ashley and Taylor were also quick to say yes, they’d do it all again. “It’s a once in a lifetime experience where you can remove the outer appearance whether it’s looks, whether it’s money, whether it’s your family,” Ashley explained. “You have to jump at a chance like that, and I think it’s the most authentic way to fall in love.” Damn, I almost want to apply now. Except I don’t want to talk to men, even with a wall separating me from them. Taylor added that they hadn’t seen the show yet and would still do it over again. “It was a blast,” she said. “I had so much fun.”

Hannah wasn’t quite as ready to go back in time and embark on her Love is Blind journey again. “Ask me in 10 years and maybe I’m ready,” she replied. “We’ll see where the world takes me.” I fear this gives us some insight into the status of her and Nicky “Mr. Suave” D.

All the girlies vote yes, love is indeed blind! (Can we please stop calling it an “experiment” now?) But Taylor and Ashley did hesitate for a second, look at each other, and laugh before responding. “So, it is blind, but I do think that physical attraction is important,” Ashley clarified. “It doesn’t mean that that person has to be everything you dreamed of physically in a man, but it could be their aura, it could be their voice.” She noted that it “can’t just be a conversation or their heart.” Hmmm. It’s giving love is not blind, but whatever you say, queen. She pointed out that once you’re in a long-term relationship, love definitely needs to be blind because, well, “Bodies, drop faces change.” Taylor interjected, “Not these ones.”
